Chapter 1 of Animal Farm

Chapter one talks about the dream that an old boar named Old Major had. Old Major had a dream about how all animals would have a rebellion against man. They held the meeting to which major adressed all animals about the dream and his plan for rebellion. The song Beasts of England was sang five times at the meeting. The meeting was broken up by Mr. Jones when he shot his gun at the barn. The animals are really excited about the idea of rebellion. I think that the animals will try to rebel but I don't think it will really happen. I think the Old Major will have to lead the animals into the battle with man, to succeed the battle with man.

Ray Charles and Maya Angelou

Ray Charles and Maya Angelou have many similarities and differences. They are both American icons. They both grew up with many hardships. Maya didn't live with her parents and Ray didn't have a father. They both also made life harder on themselves, Ray did drugs and Maya got pregnant. They both also faced harsh discrimination, Ray refused to play for segregated crowds so he was banned from the state of Georgia. Maya tried to apply for a job as a ticket taker. Racism prevented her from getting the job, but she eventually got it.

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found; Was blind, but now I see.

This sorta reminds me of Maya because shes lost but she will find her way through the world and find her purpose.

Still I Rise

Today I'am writing about a poem titled "Still I Rise" This poem was written by Maya Angelou, this is a poem that signifies Maya's courage and unwillingness to let others put her down. My favorite lines in this poem is when Maya says "Did you want to see me broken?" This is my favorite line because people intentionally hurt other people so they can feel better about themselves. Maya has amazing courage to not let others hurtful words hurt affect her. I also think this line relates to schools a lot. I think this because you constantly see kids making fun of others for many ridiculous reasons. Another line that I like is when she says "Does my sassines upset you?" The reason I like this line is because she shows a lot of courage to say something like that! This is a really cool poem, because a lot of people would never have the courage to write a poem like Maya's.
